Editor’s Note: Who doesn’t love a little house tour now and then?! We certainly do around here — and so we thought it would be fun today to show you around Charity Jewell’s lovely home. Here we go!
Welcome to the tour!
I figured the most logical place to start is the entryway to my home. My house was built in 1905, and much of its design is original. The gorgeous trim on the entryway windows is original, as well as the hardwood flooring and many of the light fixtures.
We remodeled several areas of our home to help restore its original early-1900s look and feel. As you walk in the door we have a fun mirror cutout in the wall where we normally end up throwing our keys. =)
To the left is our piano, which I absolutely love! The piano is situated in the perfect spot because you can hear its music all the way through the house during get-togethers and youth group gatherings. I LOVE music, so this set-up is ideal for me.
I love our living room area because of the large comfy couch. We spend a lot of time hosting friends and fun gatherings. Even though everything is light and bright, I also try to go for a cozy feel for our guests.
One of my favorite pieces in this room is my London pillow. It brings back so many fun memories from our trip there this past winter.
Once upon a time, my tan/white-striped chairs looked pretty horrible, but I had them painted and reupholstered. I purchased many pieces for our house from antique and estate sales and refurbished them to create a classier, more modern look. I wish I had time to go into detail about where each piece is from, but for now I’ll just say that many were very inexpensive finds! Thrifting/antiquing is one of my favorite hobbies.
One of my dear friends, Lisa, helped me decorate these areas of my home. Thankfully, we have the same taste in style. It was super-fun working with her. Lisa is actually the one who FREE-handed the chalkboard script in our living room. She’s amazing!
We love hosting get-togethers in this room! It’s such a great place for fun, games, and making memories. =)
When we bought our house, the kitchen was 1/2 the size it is now–which was tiny! We knew that wouldn’t work, so my husband and his family started demo. They quickly discovered that there were originally high ceilings that had been lowered (probably sometime in the 70s), so we created a tray ceiling to kind of open up the feel of the kitchen to match the rest of the house.
I picked out ornate cabinets and custom-ordered the details on the island. It turned out lovely! The buffet in the kitchen has been passed down from my parents. It was also in Jess’s and my wedding, and it’s very special to us.
I love antique mirrors and frames, and you can see that reflected throughout my house, including the guest room.
