Tips for Maintaining Your Glory

November 03, 2014

As Apostolic ladies, we believe our hair is our covering, and we commonly refer to it as our “glory.” I believe that we should take care of our glory the best of our ability!

But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering (I Corinthians 11:15).

However, I will confess, I am that person who always has just slightly messy hair! It seems that no matter what I do, I have that one tendril that will not stay put. I am constantly looking for tips and tricks that will help me manage my unruly tresses. Luckily, tons of inspiration for hair styling and care be found on Pinterest. Here are some of my favorite ideas I found this week.

Paper Towel Curls
Yes, I did say paper towel curls. Overuse of heat products can result in damaged, brittle hair. This is a wonderful way achieve lovely waves when giving your locks a rest. Looks easy, huh? (BONUS:: For a tutorial, click on the link!)

DIY Hair Mask
A hair mask is a wonderful way to rejuvenate dry and brittle hair. I’ve tried several with mixed results (one failed attempt involved dried banana pieces that stuck to my hair for several days–whoops!). My favorite is the egg yolk hair mask. My hair felt amazing after I applied this! Mix 2 egg yolks with two tbs. of olive oil. Massage into your hair and rinse after 15 minutes…Then voilá ~ your tresses will be softer and shinier.

Ditch the Towel
Drying your hair with a t-shirt will reduce the frizz that can be caused from towel-drying. Try pat-drying rather than viciously rubbing. This will help protect your mane. I will definitely be trying this tip.

Happy Monday, ladies – keep on being intentional!
