Three Principles To Live By

November 23, 2018

Sometimes we get so carried away with everyday things and life that we forget critical principles that we need to remember and apply to our lives.

1. You are not alone.

As you walk into the doors of your school or your workplace, remember what God promised to you in Hebrews 13:5-6:

Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” So we may boldly say:

“The Lord is my helper;

I will not fear.

What can man do to me?” (NKJV)

Don’t be afraid of being bullied or criticized by cliques or co-workers. Why? Because God will be with YOU! The same God who gives those people breath to breathe is also holding your hand and giving you strength as you take on each day. Start each day with a humble confidence that God is with you every step!

2. You have a mission to accomplish.

You are not at school or your job just to learn and work. As a Christian, you are at school to go on a mission trip. You are at school to be a witness to EVERYONE around you—teachers and students. Every person you encounter at school—whether it be an adult or a young person—is a mission field that needs to be reached with the truth. We have a responsibility as children of God to reach out to those who are lost and need saving. Challenge yourself to make new friends with the intent of being a witness to them. This applies to every place you may go–not just as a student.

3. “Do your best. Forget the rest.”

I use this same reminder with myself when I’m stressed about a college class or anything else that seems challenging. All we can give is our BEST! The same goes for you at school (or any other thing that may feel hard). If the effort is there, then almost any skill or subject can be learned and even mastered through consistent effort. You are a representation of God at your school. So do your best and forget the rest. Remember that the ultimate “teacher” you will give an account to is Him, so do as it says in Colossians 3:23-24:

“And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ.” (NKJV)

So, why should you do your best to try to get the best grades possible? Because in the end, it is God you are serving!

Challenge yourself to apply these three principles to your life and be amazed at the difference you see!
