A Note To The College Student

April 18, 2016

Sipping down your third cup of coffee to keep your eyes open till 3am in order to cram-study for a midterm exam is by far a difficult task to complete.

Trust me!

Plus, around the corner awaits another exam which will only serve to add to more stress and hours of preparation. In between the many hours of homework and studying, you spend more hours attending in-class lectures.

Then you inhale/exhale with a big sigh and wonder if you will ever get a break just to clear your mind and worries of life.

All this, my friend, is called “the college life.”

BUT, DO NOT FEAR – I HAVE GOOD NEWS THAT WILL ENCOURAGE YOU!

This semester I’m taking five classes on top of several other obligations that demand my attention. So as a busy college student, I have to constantly remind myself of what strengthens me the most. Because after church, school, and work, I feel as though I have no time for leisure or “me time.” And homework, well, that is always waiting for me to complete. No matter how crazy this college life gets or bump this ride may be, Jesus remain the faithful answer.

Always seek ye first the kingdom of God before seeking the textbooks and quizzes. God always rewards those that are faithful to the Creator before the college. At the end of the day – we have to always remind ourselves what is most important: our exams or our relationship with Jesus? Because we have to remember that we, too, are being tested down here and will be graded in a heavenly sense when our Savior returns. When His word says He will never leave you, just believe it, and you will begin to notice that He’s been with you all along to bring peace, strength and hope.

With homework scattered and stacked high, I’m sure, like for myself, that coffee creates its own section in the pyramid as apart of your major food groups. On weekends you may find yourself, staying home to finish your projects, study for an exam, assignments and quizzes. You may feel like you can barely keep up and never have time for family or friends. And you may even find hard times where you receive your exam grade and become discouraged because it wasn’t the grade you were hoping for. You end up feeling hopeless because you worked very hard and spent many hours studying and still failed the exam. Then you begin to wonder if you will ever pass the finish line alive or perhaps sane.

HERE IS AN ENCOURAGING REMINDER OF WHAT GOD SAYS THROUGH HIS WORD TO HELP YOU ACHIEVE YOUR ACCOMPLISHMENTS THIS SEMESTER:

✿ “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” {Philippians 4:13}

✿ “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.” {1 John 4:4}

✿ “I will lift up thine eyes unto the hills from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord who made heaven and earth.” {Psalms 121:1-2}

✿ “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” {Pslams 46:1}

✿ “Fear thou not; for I [am] with thee: be not dismayed; for I [am] thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.” {Isaiah 41:10}

✿ “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” {Isaiah 40:31}

✿ “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worth in us.” {Ephesians 3:20}

✿ “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” {Matthew 6:33}

The next time you feel overwhelmed with the college student life, just remember that Jesus is your strength and He is with you always!
