Natural Remedies To Relieve Stress

From time to time, many of us ladies are faced with stressful and troublesome situations due to hectic schedules and the every day demands of life. And, of course, we all try to resolve it with our easy go-to “cup of Joe” to get through the day. As stress triggers our brains, we may impetuously let our diets get out of control and go on sugar binges. However, when we learn to adapt to a healthier mechanism for managing psychological stress, it will help our overall well-being. The key to achieving healthy well-being is to pursue mindfulness by revolutionizing our thoughts and emotions.

I am a complete advocate of essential oils! I use them faithfully every day like many use items from the medicine cabinet. Aromatherapy is incredible for relaxing the mind and body. Ever since I started using peppermint oil, I can say that I hardly ever resort to any over-the-counter medicines. Also, there are several different ways you can use essential oils for stress therapy — some of which can be topical, ingested, or even diffused. However, be extremely cautious of the potency level and check recommended dosage before using essential oils. I highly recommend rosemary, peppermint, lavender, sage, clove, and eucalyptus essential oils for many ailments such as headaches, stress, and muscle tension.

These potent miracle oils not only heal, but are also very relaxing to the mind, body, and soul. I use lavender oil most when I feel the onset of a migraine and mix it with peppermint oil to get immediate relief.  Not only will you be reinvigorated by the soothing oils, but your skin will absorb the vitamins through the oils. I also recommend using a homemade rice sock for effectiveness. However, if you’re unfamiliar with a rice sock to use as an aromatherapy heating pad, you simply find a long, cute sock and fill it three-fourths full with white rice. You can close the sock by either tying it in a knot or sewing it at the end. After putting the rice sock for 2-3 minutes in the microwave, add a couple drops of lavender and peppermint oil to sock, and apply to your forehead for relief of your headache.

Tea is a powerful source of antioxidants that brings tranquility to the mind and has amazing health benefits. It is helpful in preventing stress, weight gain, insomnia, acne, and memory loss. It also aids in boosting brain function and metabolism. Also, studies have shown that it may slow the process of aging and contribute to detoxifying the body. There are a number of ways you can personalize your tea as well. I like to drink organic loose leaf green tea daily with a couple drops of lavender oil. For stress, chamomile tea would be the perfect choice to indulge in for complete serenity and anti-anxiety.

chocolate-covered frozen bananas

When you feel like indulging in a guilt-free delectable treat, these dark chocolate-covered frozen bananas are the perfect snack!  Why?  Bananas not only contain a high amount of potassium but they also contain vitamin B6, which is great as a mood booster. Also, dark chocolate is loaded with antioxidants and flavonoids which are great for your skin. To enjoy these healthy little dark chocolate covered banana bites you need very few ingredients!

Dark Chocolate-Covered Banana Bites

Ingredients:

  • 3-4 ripe bananas
  • 4 oz. of high-grade dark chocolate
  • 1 tablespoon of unrefined coconut oil

Toppings:

  • Chai seeds
  • Sea Salt
  • Coconut shreds
  • Crushed almonds
  • All-natural peanut butter bits

Directions:
Melt dark chocolate and coconut oil in a saucepan at medium setting for 5-10 minutes until smooth.  Meanwhile, prepare a standard baking sheet by placing it with wax paper. Evenly dice frozen bananas into thick slices then arrange them on a baking sheet.  After chocolate is melted, use fork to dip bananas in syrup and sprinkle with desired toppings.  Let all excess chocolate drip off then place slices on baking sheet.  After all slices have been thoroughly dipped in syrup and sprinkled with toppings, let it cool for 20 minutes in fridge.  Then enjoy!
