Monty’s Nautical-Theme-Inspired 1st Birthday Party

July 23, 2019

My baby boy, Monty, just turned one year old! With it being his first birthday party, I was super excited to take this opportunity to celebrate with friends and family.

I love anything nautical-inspired, but Monty’s party theme was also very personal. My grandad is a maritime historian. My aunt was a captain in the navy. So nautical ties run strong in our family!

If you saw our nursery reveal last year (see it here), you may have noticed we incorporated a nautical theme into the decor. We wanted Monty’s room to be classy, not cheesy, and we were really happy with how the nursery turned out. So we hoped to carry a little of that feel over into his first birthday party.

For the party, we had a pool in the back for the kids to play in. The menu was pulled pork and hot dogs, backyard-picnic style. A perfect idea for summer, and so much fun!

I asked my husband to build Monty a ship that he could play in for years to come. He made it happen!
My friend, Angela, made the cake from scratch. It was the best cake ever!

I’ve linked some of my favorite items from the party below if you’re interested in doing your own nautical-themed party:

Nautical Baby Boy Romper

Nautical-Themed Cupcake or Fruit Picks

Hampton Nautical Sailboat

Fire Boat Swimming Pool

What are some of your favorite birthday party themes for kids that you’ve seen? Tell me about them in the comments below!
