Tips for Mixing Prints

August 15, 2018

There’s nothing like finding a new piece at a store that pairs so well with something you already have in your closet, right?

For this outfit, I paired this top I found at H&M with an adorable polka-dot vintage skirt. The end result was a soft, feminine look that’s perfect for spring and summer.

I think the best thing about this outfit is  . . . the mixed prints!

Some people steer away from mixing prints because they’re not confident they can pull off the look. However, mixing prints makes for so many fun, unique outfit possibilities.

If you’re new at mixing prints, here are a few tips:

  1. Try mixing stripes or polka-dots with leopard print (this is usually always a pretty safe combo).
  2. Consider using prints with a similar theme — such as large florals with smaller ones in complementing colors.
  3. Color is a huge factor for whether an outfit will work! The colors of different pieces have to complement one another for an outfit to look right.

If you try a mixed-print combo, I’d love to see! Hashtag #ShesIntentional in your social media posts . . . And if you have any favorite prints you love wearing together, let me know about them in the comments!
