What a great reminder of who our God is!
It’s so easy to get caught up in drama and difficulties, both in our personal lives and on a much bigger scale. There’s so much craziness in our world it’s easy to be afraid about what the future holds. Add that to the problems we all face day-to-day, and life can sometimes be overwhelming.
But, why should we worry? Why should we be afraid? Why should feel overwhelmed by all the things we can’t control?
Do we so quickly forget that the God we serve, the God who calls us His children, is the King of the world?
Through recent Bible reading and conversations, I’ve been reminded again how big and awesome our God really is.
Nothing that happens in our lives or in this world surprises Him. I find so much hope and peace in this knowledge!
When the world seems to be spinning out of control, remember that the God we serve is the one who sets everything in motion. If things are going crazy all around us, we can trust that He knows and He has a purpose. Even though nations turn against God, when He whistles “to them from the end of the earth; surely they shall come with speed, swiftly.” (Isaiah 5:26, NKJV)
We must not forget that He is the King of the world!
When storms, hurricanes, tornados, and earthquakes rock our world, our God is the one who has the power to rebuke the wind and say “to the sea, Peace be still!” and “the wind and sea obey Him.” (Mark 4: 39-41)
He’s got this! And He’s got you, too!
There’s account after account in the Word of this amazing God we serve and all He has done and can do. But, if we’re not careful, we’ll treat those accounts as though they’re only stories to be told in Sunday school, stories that have no impact on our world today.
We use religious terms in reference to God so often that they lose their power and meaning. How many times have we heard that He’s the King of kings? We nod our heads and say amen, but do we comprehend what that really means?
The most powerful people in our world are still under our God’s authority, whether they like it or not. Our God alone is sovereign!
Isaiah 66:1 reminds us that heaven is His throne and the earth is his footstool.
Things may not look good right now, and they may not get better. We don’t know what the future holds. We do, however, know the one who does!
We can find peace in knowing that our God is the King of the world!
