Hooray for Snail Mail!

July 09, 2015

Remember the good old days? Before email and texting, when people sent handwritten cards and notes often? Yeah, me neither. But, I wish I did. Don’t get me wrong,  I do love the convenience of shooting off a email or text message to a friend, yet, there is just something special about a handwritten note. With the technology-laden, hectic world we live in, it means so much to know that someone took the time to stop and compose a message just for you.

Since I was about five years old, I have collected nearly ever card or letter given to me! My boxes of letters contain some of my most prized earthly possessions. I still take them out and read them from time to time. I can recall having bad days, but later going to the mailbox to find a card from a friend. Just that simple act of kindness lifted my spirits and brought a smile to my face. Perhaps you also like to send and receive snail-mail? I want to share some of my favorite ideas with you!

1. Get creative!

When addressing envelopes, think outside of the box! Add some decorative flair to your envelope. It will bring a smile to the receiver’s face :-).

How wonderful it is to be able to write someone a letter! To feel like conveying your thoughts to a person, to sit at your desk and pick up a pen, to put your thoughts into words…~Haruki Murakami

2. Mail something unique

Guess what: you can mail anything 13 ounces or under, simply by attaching a stamp and dropping it in the mail. How cool is that? I love this idea of sending a ball with a sharpie engraved note on it! It would be awesome for both adults and kids.
