Relationships require time. Relationships require effort. Relationships require persistence, diligence, and sincerity. Relationships…well, they require alot, don’t they?
I’m not talking about boy-girl relationships here, I’m talking about any relationship that facilitates friendship, dialogue, and communication with any fellow human being. It would be fair to say that we all have relationships in our lives…some good, and some well, some not so good.
How do we maintain these relationships?
We maintain these relationships by staying connected with each other. In various means these days, text message, IM, social media (of all sorts), phone calls, video chats, all sorts of mediums…various forms of connections…communication. By staying connected, we communicate with each other. By communicating with each other we build community. With community we change the world.
I encourage you this Friday dear reader, that the friendships you make with others are not random, they are not coincidental – and ultimately, they are what you make of them. You are not to use people, yet, you should think of the purpose of your relationship when connecting with others. Is the relationship mutually beneficial? Are you both growing and dreaming together? Do you lift each other up or tear each other down? Can you, together, make a change in the world?
If the answer to any of the above questions is yes…then go for it sweet girl. Love hard. Listen closely. Live your best life in community with those who encourage you to be your best godly self.
“Are not all lifelong friendships born at the moment when at last you meet another human being who has some inkling of that something which you were born desiring, and which, beneath the louder passions, night and day, year by year, from childhood to old age, you are looking for, watching for, listening for?”
