5 Vintage Trends to Incorporate Into Your Wardrobe

April 23, 2015

I am such a fan of vintage pieces.

I have a fairly impressive vintage collection and I love incorporating those pieces into my everyday look. Choosing the right decade for your body type is probably one of the most important things when shopping vintage. Each decade comes with a very distinct style. For example, in the fifties, the ideal woman had an hourglass figure and the clothing reflects that trend. My favorite decades to wear are the forties and fifties. Here are five vintage trends that you can incorporate into your wardrobe on a daily basis!

1.) Cat Eye Sunglasses :: For starters, I am obsessed with cat eye sunglasses, and have been for the past three years. They are so fun and dramatic and will definitely add a level of sophistication to any outfit. Wear them with your favorite solid summer t-shirt to spice things up. Another tip: wear cat eye sunglasses with your hair slicked back! Trust me on this one.

2.) The Cape Coat :: Cape coats are making a massive comeback and for good reason! They are amazing, and are such a drastic change from the typical coat. Now they even have cape trench coats which happen to be a personal favorite of mine. The cape coat is so chic and such a classic piece. This is definitely a trend to try!

3.) White-on-White :: Leave it to Jackie O to blow our minds style-wise. She is one still considered a fashion icon (our editor Nichole talked about that a little in this post!) and continues to inspire women with her stunning ensembles. While Jackie Kennedy had hundreds of incredible looks, one of my favorites is her white-on-white look. White-on-white is a trend that many are afraid to attempt because they feel that they cannot pull it off. However, Jackie demonstrates that this look is well worth the attempt!

4.) The Trench Coat :: The trench coat is a timeless basic that every woman needs in her closet. This particular piece has never gone out of style, but instead has increased in popularity. You can throw on a trench coat over any boring outfit and still leave the house feeling polished and chic. Nothing says classy more than a tan trench and a pair of cat eye sunglasses. Audrey Hepburn mastered this look so many times throughout her life. She was constantly photographed wearing this piece!

5.) The Fur Wrap ::We cannot forget about the fur wrap. This is one of those pieces that has recently come back into style with the recent Great Gatsby craze. The fur wrap instantly transforms any gown into something fit for Grace Kelly. I adore Grace Kelly, mostly because she was an actress who became a Princess, but there is no denying her incredible style. She, like Jackie O, is still considered the epitome of elegance. The fur wrap is definitely something to try for a black tie affair!

Try these amazing Vintage trends today, I promise you, you can look just as classy as Jackie O!
